Christmas
Concert, Friday 6th and Saturday 7th
Not an empty seat in the house - both
nights a sell out once again.
FIVE Bands of different levels taking the stage......
The
concert started off with this year's 'Beginner Band' playing
christmas carols and two of their favourite pieces. It was
hard to believe that every member of this band had only been
playing since the new class started in October this year (how
do you do it Fred?) - well done players on a brilliant
show and carry on with the good work!
The
Intermediate band were keen to let us hear how much they had
improved since last year and chose to play the test piece
'Dawn of Spring' which they recently performed at the North
Wales Rally gaining 1st prize, it just shows what hard work
and dedication can do.
The
Youth Band came on next - Wow! what a great sound and all
under 19 years of age! they also chose to play the test piece
recently performed at the North Wales Rally 'Penine
Moors' in which they were
awarded 1st prize.
The
'B' Band are coming on in leaps and bounds and have been extremely
successful this year in all contests entered. They gave a
stylish performance of 'White Christmas' and showed off their
percussion section with 'Sing, Sing, Sing' - exciting stuff!!
It
was the turn of the Senior Band to entertain in the second
half of the concert and that's what they most certainly did.
Their programme started off with a lively March followed by
'A very strange Duckling' dancing to 'The Ugly Duckling'
(photos to follow hopefully). More wonderful music
.... and then the Guest Star - the Band's very own 'Dean Martin'
and his backing singers singing That's Amore - (you just
had to be there!). The percussion section were on form
playing the piece 'Caravan' and it was certainly Winter in
Wonderland.
The
evening ended with the 'B' Band joining the Senior Band on
stage to play the ever popular march 'Death or Glory' and
then wished everyone a Merry Christmas while the Juniors Popped
their Party's - a great concert once again!! |

North
Wales Brass Band Championships, John Bright School, Llandudno,
Saturday, 23rd November
They
say that things come in threes- well it certainly did for
Seindorf Beaumaris Band at the North Wales Rally.
The 'B' band, conducted by Paul Hughes, won 1st prize
in Section Three playing the test piece 'Pennine Moors' and
also won Best Performance of a March 'Death or Glory' in their
section - a well deserved win!
The Youth Band sections were split into two categories and
Beaumaris had a band competing in both. The Beaumaris Youth
'A' band, conducted by Paul Hughes also won 1st prize
playing the same test piece as the 'B' band and they won Best
Performance of a March playing 'Death or Glory' - an excellent
win!
Next
came the 34 strong Beaumaris Youth 'B' band, conducted by
Fred Evans. For such young players this band really created
a fantastic sound - another 4th section band in the making!!
Yes, this youth band also received 1st prize playing
the well known test piece 'Dawn of Spring' - a brilliant
win!

The success of all the bands competing today is most certainly
due to the hard work, dedication and enthusiasm of all the
players, conductors and helpers - a big THANK YOU to all. |

The
National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain at the
Royal Albert Hall
The
Senior Band competed for the first time in the Championship
section of the National Finals on Saturday, 19th October.
They thoroughly enjoyed the build up to this prestigious event
and working on such a challenging test piece as 'Masquerade'
by Dr Philip Wilby. Although disappointed with the result
the band members felt that they had gained valuable experience
which they will build upon for the future.
Many
thanks to all the supporters and especially to Gwyn for all
his hard work, dedication and commitment. |

The
'B' Band in Holland
On
Sunday 21st July the 'B' Band and a
second coach of family and supporters set out on a 10 day
tour of the Netherlands. Following an overnight crossing the
band spent their first day in Amsterdam and the following
7 nights were based in Naarden. The Band performed at Sneek,
a town in the middle of The Friesian Lakeland, they also performed
on a boat cruise on the Lakes.
The
highlight of the tour was a visit to the war cemetary at Arnhem
where the band played and conducted a short remembrance service.
The Band also visited the Showcase Floriade and the Theme
Park at Slagharen where the played on the March through the
Park. The highlight for the younger members was the visit
to the Six Flags Theme Park and also the Dolphinarium. You
can't go to the Netherlands without visiting a Clog Factory
and Cheese making farm and the combination of warm weather
and fresh cheese certainly hummed around the coaches for at
least a couple of days!
Other
places of interest were a visit to Madurodam "Holland
in a nutshell miniature village" a visit to Kinderdijk
to see Holland's largest collection of Windmills and a stop
at Delft for that last minute souvenir shopping. By popular
vote the most enjoyable part of the tour were the evening
impromptu singalong's at the bar in the Hotel - everyone enjoyed
the tour and look forward to the next one. A big thanks must
go to Caelloi Motors and our two drivers 'Derek' and 'Dewi'
who looked after us so well.

Summer
Concert
Once
again on Saturday 13th July the Annual Summer Concert was
a sell out and a tremendous success. The Band's guests this
year were Elin Fflur, a very talented young singer who is
in great demand with local bands and has also been successful
in various national
talent competitions. Also taking part were Dawnswyr Môn,
a prize winning group of folk dancers who have been very successful
both nationally and internationally. The theme for the concert
was based on Welsh culture and the band's programme included
many well known Welsh compositions.
Special
Service
On Sunday July 7th the Junior and Intermediate Bands were
invited to take part in a special service at St. Mary's Church,
Beaumaris. The Service was to mark the innauguration of Councillor
Richard Owen as the new Mayor of Anglesey. |

followed by 'Embraceable You' trombone solo played by Jos Harris.
The

After weeks of preparation working on the test piece for the
4th section bands, 'The Seasons' Suite by Philip
Wilby, the day had finally arrived. On Sunday 22nd October the
Beaumaris 'B' Band, conducted by Fred Evans, competed in the
4th Section of the Boosey & Hawkes National Brass Band Championships
of Great Britain at the Royal Albert Hall. This was the first
time the band had entered this competition and to become national
champions in their section was most certainly a fantastic achievement.
The Albert Hall was buzzing as the three bus loads of supporters
cheered and waved the Welsh flags when the winning band was
announced - the atmosphere was brilliant. The band were two
points clear of second prize and were given an adjudication
to be very proud of by Malcolm Browbill and Roy Sparkes.
On their return to Beaumaris the band were greeted by the local
townspeople in the main street and were invited to a reception
at the Bulkely Hotel where celebrations took place. |
