Action
Research (Medical) Youth Brass Band Entertainment Championships,
Winter Gardens, Blackpool, Sunday, February 19th 2006

After
a very early start from the Bandroom in Beaumaris (5.30am)
the Youth Band arrived at the Winter Gardens, quickly changed
into their uniform and were ready to go on stage to start
the contest as they were drawn the dreaded Number 1. To start
off their programme they gave a rousing performance of 'Olympic
Theme and Fanfare' followed by a very exciting 'Devil's Galop'.
Next up was soprano solo 'Memory' played beautifully by the
very talented 'Graham Bushell' - well done Mr Bushell but
don't forget your black trousers next time!!
The band went on to play a lively rhythmic arrangement of
'Soul Bossanova' written for them by Gwyn Evans and to add
a little bit of spice to this performance they brought on
their own dancers - cornet player 'Bronwen' and their compere
'Aled Evans', great little movers! To finish off the programme
the band gave a very commendable performance of 'Theme from
Pirates of the Caribbean'.
The Youth Band were awarded 6th place from adjudicators, Malcolm
Brownbill (Music) and Simon Wood (Entertainment). Well done
to all the players and a big thank you to Paul Hughes (conductor)
and all the helpers.
