Opening of the new bandroom - a special occasion!

Saturday, 9th September 2000 will be a day to remember for Seindorf Beaumaris Band. The official opening of the new bandroom had finally come around and all the members, family and friends wanted to show what this really meant to them. Many of the band's officials, members and friends had been busy preparing for weeks beforehand to make sure the opening would be something extra special to remember.

At 1.30pm almost all the members of the band (approximately 140) turned up in uniform outside the old bandroom to march through the streets of Beaumaris to the new bandroom. This was most certainly a sight to see. The senior band up front, the intermediate and beginners band proudly marching behind followed closely by the 'B' Band and all were led by Fred Evans.

The streets were lined with people applauding as the band marched along and on arrival at the new bandroom there were yet more people to greet them.

After the speeches were given, the band played a 'Fanfare for a Special Occasion' which was written especially for the band by talented composer Bill Connor. The bandroom was then officially opened by Ieuan Wyn Jones MP AM.

All in all it was a fantastic day for the band - a day to remember indeed!
